Access & Continuing Education:

Seasiders’ Learning Centre is based in the heart of the community in one of Blackpool’s highest area of social deprivation. The centre engages and works with a diverse community across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. Customers include the short and long term unemployed, lone parents and students for whom English is a second language (ESOL), all of  whom are the hardest to reach and have multiple challenges and barriers to work, life and social inclusion.

Key to the success is the strong working relationship with a range of employers to develop and create bespoke training programmes which provides opportunities to take the unemployed into employment. The Centre strives to be a single point of contact for employers providing an outstanding candidate skills matching service.

The centre offers different delivery models, to capture a wider audience and to facilitate employability learning programmes that incorporate an innovative and creative blended learning approach. The programmes provide an opportunity for all to participate in learning and creating a stronger, healthier and more resilient community workforce.

Seasiders’ Learning Centre forms the hub for community engagement in courses to support the development of employability skills, including English, maths and ESOL. Courses are offered on a part time basis, taking into account adult students’ other commitments, and to ensure a wider audience can access the courses.

Summary of Responsibilities:

To effectively lead and manage the full student experience, resources, staffing, curriculum design and delivery (learning, teaching and assessment) which delivers outstanding outcomes for all students.
